High School Sweethearts – Alex & Madison

Summer is in full swing and we’ve been having so much fun working with all of our summer brides! One of our biggest weddings was just a few weekends ago and I have been patiently waiting to share this one on our blog! Alex & Madison, two high-school sweethearts, tied the knot on June 12th at their hometown church in Warsaw, NC, and then made their way to Eastern North Carolina’s top-rated event space: River Landing NC. It was an absolute joy working with this sweet couple and getting an inside look at their love story. We wish you two the very best!

The day started with Madison and her bridesmaids getting ready in a beautiful historic home across the street from the church their ceremony would soon take place in – Duplin County Veterans Museum

This porch and this bride!… Madison was GLOWING! Shoutout to her amazing makeup artist – The Makeup Team

While Madison and her bridesmaids were taking full advantage of every photo opportunity at the house, Alex and his groomsmen were getting ready for the big day across the street in their hometown church.

Loved ones began flooding into Warsaw’s beautiful Presbyterian Church where they patiently waiting for their bride & groom

And we cannot forget about the cutest ring bearer of all time!!

It was such a joy to watch Madison walk down the aisle to Alex and exchange vows while surrounded by loved ones – such a sweet ceremony

After the high-school sweethearts tied the knot, family and friends quickly made their way to River Landing NC for the rest of the evening – I was in complete awe when I rolled up to this beautiful Country Club!

Our team of vendors did an amazing job at putting together a beautiful reception for Alex & Madison!

Gorgeous floral arrangements by Sandra Holmes – her florals can truly bring any space to life!

And a beautiful cake by the talented One Belle Bakery

Alex & Madison’s first dance :) Thank you Pamella Jahnke Photography for capturing this sweet moment!

Madison’s father had everyone in tears when he surprised her with a slideshow of childhood photos during their Father-Daughter dance – my favorite moment from the evening!

Let the dance party begin!

JAVA band had everyone up out of their seats showing off their best moves on the dance floor!

As the night came to an end, loved ones gathered outside the reception and sent Alex & Madison off with sparklers!

And that’s a wrap! Thank you to all our vendors who made this magical night happen – we couldn’t do it without you!

An Exciting Kick Off to our Spring Season with Kat & Andy!

Happy Spring! We have been patiently waiting to kick this season off and we are so excited that it is finally here and that we get to share it with YOU! Our first spring wedding had us road tripping across the state to the beautiful Pine Knoll Shores where we got to celebrate Kat & Andy on their special day.  While the coast brought challenging weather and unexpected winds, our team of amazing vendors never let anything stand in the way of marrying these two. We were so grateful to have such a joyful and exciting kick-off to our busy spring season and we wish Kat and Andy the very best!

We were so excited when our bride picked her wedding venue – the beautiful Crystal Coast Country Club !

Their wedding day started with Kat and her bridesmaids getting their hair and makeup done by talented professionals at Reign Beauty – and these floral robes made for the cutest photos by Allie Miller Photography  !

Loving all the simple and elegant details that Kat added to her wedding look!

We couldn’t have been more excited when we found out Kat & Andy wanted to do a first look before their ceremony. This is one of my favorite moments from every couple’s wedding day!

Obsessing over the bouquets and greenery incorporated in the ceremony! Thank you to Carolina Home & Garden for bringing our bride’s vision to life!

Kat & Andy enjoying their vows and letters in private moments before the ceremony :)

After reading their vows,  family and friends made their way into the beautiful ceremony where Kat & Andy shared the sweetest moment and said their “I dos.” And we can’t forget about the beautiful ceremony music by the talented Justin Castellano !

While Kat & Andy were sharing their vows, our amazing team of vendors were busy making the reception hall perfect for them and their guests! I was in love with the table design that Kat chose for her special day!

Thanks to Meriwether Designs we were able to make Kat & Andy’s wedding day even more special with handwritten decorations! We love when our brides incorporate details like this – adds so many unique touches throughout the night!

Their guests couldn’t get enough of these cute macaroons from Monte Mac!! And look at that beautiful cake from Sugar Plum Bakery :)

Kat & Andy enjoyed toasts, cake-cutting, and dancing while surrounded by all their loved ones! Thank you to DJ Generations for bringing the energy and excitement to the dance floor!

As the night came to an end, Kat & Andy said their goodbyes, and friends and family sent them off through a sparkler tunnel – our favorite way to end the night!

We were so grateful to be a part of Kat & Andy’s wedding day and are so excited for the life they have ahead of them!

Thank you SO much to our amazing team of vendors that made this day happen!

Ringing in the New Year with Virginia & Woodie

Wow! We all know 2020 was a year like no other… I don’t want to speak for everyone but if you’re anything like me, then this year wasn’t too hard to say goodbye to. A year full of safety and health boundaries and confusing governmental guidelines made me feel like I was walking upstream for quite a bit of time and although it was challenging, I’m grateful for all that the year taught me! I gained a new appreciation for the small things, realized that life is more about quality than quantity, and learned to hold tight to the glimpses of joy that came my way during the hard seasons. One of these joyful moments that I am so excited to share with you today is the wedding of Virginia and Woodie Williams! Truly, there was no better way to end this year than with their beautiful love story and a timeless, black-tie wedding on New Year’s Eve!

We were obsessing over this classic look that continued throughout the night! I mean look at those lights and that checkered dance floor!

Virginia and Woodie kicked off their weekend at the beautiful Market Hall in downtown Raleigh. The night was full of laughter while family and friends gathered safely and shared toasts for the amazing couple.

Their special day started with Virginia and her bridesmaids getting their hair and makeup done by the talented group of women at Parlor and then heading over to the Merrimon Wyne House where they gathered on the front porch to capture a special moment.

And we can’t forget about our handsome groomsmen!

We couldn’t forget to share one of the sweetest moments right before Virginia and Woodie’s ceremony. The pandemic couldn’t stop this man from seeing his granddaughter on her special day. Even through hard times, love always wins :)

After friends and family arrived at Hayes Barton Methodist Church, Virginia and Woodie shared their vows and safely greeted their guests after the ceremony!

We couldn’t stop staring at these amazing floral arrangements by Petal Pushers while we waited upon the arrival of the newlyweds and their guests. I mean just look at that detail!!

Some delicious appetizers from one of our favorite caterers – Rocky Top

Speaking of beautiful details – check out this classic look Virginia incorporated in her paper products from Mason Dixon Design!

The crowd couldn’t get enough of Mr. and Mrs. Williams while they shared their first dance. It was pure joy and happiness out there on that dance floor!

Now THAT is one happy groom right there! We loved all the candid shots by Anagram Photo

Let the New Year’s countdown begin!

While the countdown continued, the couple shared more champagne with guests and cut their beautiful cake by Ashley Cakes!

Obsessed with this photo from the end of the night! We love extra details like this – it makes for the cutest photo opportunity!

We could’ve easily celebrated this couple all night but, due to the curfew, we wrapped things up around 9 pm and sent the newlyweds on their honeymoon! Wishing Mr. and Mrs. Williams the very best in their new life together!

A HUGE thank you to the wonderful team of vendors! We couldn’t have done it without you!

Planning a Wedding in the Midst of Corona

Anyone had a major event canceled recently? Cancelations and postponements have affected basically every person in our nation at this point. COVID-19 is a curveball no one saw coming, and no bride or vendor has ever dealt with a crisis on this scale.

The one bright side of all of this is that we all suddenly have a surplus of one valuable resource- time. With this in mind, we want to come to you with some real-world wedding planning ideas that you can still accomplish during quarantine.

Through the power of technology, you can still explore most vendors via their online presence. Take this time to research venues, photographers, florists, etc. You can get a great sense of most vendors by way of their websites and socials plus wedding planning review sites and person to person recommendations. These are the mediums most brides used to choose vendors before COVID-19, and luckily all those are available during quarantine! Additionally, many vendors are offering zoom meetings, so you still get the opportunity to speak face to face! From a vendor-booking perspective, there is still great potential to make some serious progress!

Another time-intensive but budget-friendly option is to get some great DIY inspiration! Even if you lack any real artistic ability (you are my people), there are still plenty of simple how-to projects that can give your wedding a personalized feel and help cut back costs. We love Pinterest for its never-ending stream of ideas, so whether you’d like to take on signage, unique wedding favors, or even build your own arbor, the world is your oyster!

MCJohnWED045 (1)

The last thing we recommend doing with this time is spending it with those you love most. As many brides have hunkered down with family or their fiancé, this time can be a beautiful reminder of how lucky we are to have those we love in our lives! Isn’t that what a wedding is about anyway?

All the above ideas were inspired by the things we heard when talking to real brides-to-be about what it was like to plan a wedding in quarantine. Over and over again we heard them express gratitude for those in their life, assurance despite not knowing what’s around the corner, and excitement for when we can all be together again! We would like to thank all first responders, health care staff, and essential workers who are keeping the world spinning! We’ll make it through this together! We can’t wait to see how absolutely stunning your day will be, and hear about what an amazing journey it was to get there!

Caitlyn & Patrick

Hello hello! Can you believe we have entered a brand new decade?! Not sure about you but just saying “2020” always sounds so surreal! Anyway, my own personal amazement aside, today we’re sharing a wedding that’s straight out of a 1990s rom-com! Caitlyn and Patrick were high school sweethearts. He was a football player and she was a cheerleader! Even though we are in a new decade, this wedding is as timelessly stunning as ever! Check out some of their beautiful photos by Azul Photography and try and tell us their classic designs choices haven’t stood the test of time for a reason!

Engagement Photos

Hello again! In honor of the holiday engagement season, we’d like to give some special love and attention to engagement photos. While not everyone chooses to do this, we highly recommend them, they are beneficial in so many ways! The stunning photos you get can be used around your house, for holiday cards, and many couples ultimately use them for save the dates!

Engagement photos also give you and your fiancé a chance to work with your wedding photographer before the big day! This is awesome because your photographer is someone who is going to be by your side all day long on your wedding day, and sometimes, they’re included in some pretty personal and intimate moments, so you want to feel comfortable and have a rapport with them!

Take a look at these stunning engagement photos of Trent and Thuy by the very talented Pam with Pamela Jahnke Photography! This gorgeous couple is getting married next year at The Carolina Inn. They offer some serious inspiration, so think again if you thought about skipping out on engagement photos! You’ll cherish them for a lifetime!

Tierney & Nick’s Wedding

Hello again! Happy almost fall! I don’t know about you, but we can not wait for the weather to start cooling down and settle into the full-on autumn spirit. Pumpkins and scarves and changing leaves are on the way, hooray! Fall asides, today we are so excited to showcase one of our most favorite weddings from this summer! Tierney and Nick’s July wedding was just too beautiful not to share. Their vision was a small guest count and a big party… and we love that! They were also the sweetest couple, with the cutest ‘how we met’ story! They met at a dog park and connected because they both had the same rare breed of dog! Adorable right?! And not to worry, the dogs did make and appearance at the wedding! Check out their wedding below!

Emily & John

This month we are sharing a wedding we did this March at the Carolina Inn. Our couple, Emily and John were a joy to work with and we loved their vision of a small, intimate wedding! From the gorgeous flowers by Wild Flora Farm, to the amazing cake, to dancing the night away with their innermost circle, we couldn’t have been more happy to be a part of their day! These amazing photos were captured by the lovely and talented Heba of Heba Salama Photography. Take a look for some serious wedding inspo!

These flowers are (almost) as gorgeous as our bride. The bright pinks and greenery are amazing for a spring wedding!

How beautiful is this floral arbor?! Such a modern take on the traditional arch!

The Carolina Inn is one of our favorite venues! Its beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces offer you so much variety. You’ll be able to get so many amazing shots!

The couple’s dog, Teddy, is super special to them, and was an adorable incorporation to their day. In addition to being in attendance, the couple also had a signature cocktail made in his honor!

Emily and John wanted to keep there guest count small, with about 50 guests attending. We love that because then your wedding day is filled with only those most close to you!

Mary Catherine & John

Hi again! We are back to post about one of our recent weddings at the Merrimon-Wynne House. This wedding was so special to be a part of, partly due to the amazing creativity of our bride, Mary Catherine. Lots of the details to this one were DIY, which is a great (and cost saving way) to make your day unique! The shabby-chic feel of the wedding made an eclectic yet elegant statement and gave Mary Catherine and her husband John a great vibe to show off their warmth as a couple! Take a look at the pictures below and you’ll see how Mary Catherine and John’s individual touches and style choices made their day truly stand out!

MCJohnWED081 MCJohnWED436

MCJohnWED419 MCJohnWED248

MCJohnWED017 Honeycombed shaped seating assignments! It’s a super easy way to incorporate something a little unexpected.

MCJohnWED040 These potted plants served as the wedding favors for guests! In this photo, you can see that the bottoms of the pots were painted gold. This was done individually, by hand, by the bride and gives the wedding favors a personal touch plus a little extra visual appeal!

The napkins were hand died by the bride herself! They are a beautiful pink ombre design. Two perks of doing DIY are that no one else will ever have these same napkins and they’re yours to keep at the end of the night because you’re not renting them from the caterer!

MCJohnWED045 (1)

These goblets and cups didn’t come from the caterer or rental company! Nope, the bride tracked these down herself! All the different jewel tones and shapes made the tables so much more interesting and no one will ever have the same glassware because Mary Catherine used a totally different avenue to find hers!

MCJohnWED051 (2)

This couple had a cake bar stocked with multiple different cake flavors! This is such a fun spin on a traditional cake table and allows for so much more variety. There were so many different flavors for guests to choose from, and this way, everyone gets a flavor they’ll love!

MCJohnWED055 (1)

Mary Catherine and John had a milk and cookie station! These cookies were baked by the couples’ family which was such a sweet touch (metaphorically and literally) that you won’t find at most weddings!

Carrie & Raymond

Today we are so excited to spotlight a beautiful wedding we did back in October at the Gregg Museum on NC State’s campus. Our couple is Carrie and Raymond and they were an absolute joy to work with! We love the way they incorporated tradition with modernity to create a truly unforgettable day. Below we have a few stunning images by the very talented Robin at Robin Lin Photography, that really showcase some of the special components to their day. Take some time to look through these shots for some wedding ideas that might inspire you to take a step away from the conventional!

RL2_3005 RL2_2656

We love these dark, rich, wine colored bridesmaids’ dresses! They make a dramatic statement and the hue is a classic pairing with the gorgeous autumn weather. Plus it look amazing on almost every skin tone so all your girls can feel beautiful!

Carrie and Raymond chose to do a first look! This is a fresh take on the groom’s first time seeing the bride! A first look is incredibly intimate and gives you and your groom an amazing moment together before walking down the aisle. Plus, you get so many more pictures done before the ceremony so you actually get to participate in cocktail hour!

RL2_0082 RL2_2959

RL2_0180These stunning market lights are an elegant but understated way to add lighting, which is essential when having a tented outdoor reception! Carrie and Raymond’s choice to use a transparent tent was gorgeous and allows the market lights to make a bigger and bigger statement as the night goes on and it gets darker!

RL2_0156 RL2_0502

Including an unexpected food in your day is a great way to make your wedding more personal! This couple chose to do a late night biscuit bar, courtesy of Rocky Top Catering! It was delicious and is a fun surprise for your guests! Almost anything will work so think creatively, i.e. s’mores bar, sundae station, or even having a food truck make a late night appearance.

Carrie and Raymond took a traditional idea, a send off, but put a little bit of a different twist on it! Those guests are waving glow sticks instead of something a little more conventional like sparklers, bubbles, or confetti. Making your day unique is all in the details, plus your guests can enjoy the glow sticks later on in the night if post-wedding festivities take you out on the town!

Big thanks to the amazing vendors we worked with on this wedding!
