Caitlyn & Patrick

Hello hello! Can you believe we have entered a brand new decade?! Not sure about you but just saying “2020” always sounds so surreal! Anyway, my own personal amazement aside, today we’re sharing a wedding that’s straight out of a 1990s rom-com! Caitlyn and Patrick were high school sweethearts. He was a football player and she was a cheerleader! Even though we are in a new decade, this wedding is as timelessly stunning as ever! Check out some of their beautiful photos by Azul Photography and try and tell us their classic designs choices haven’t stood the test of time for a reason!

We love this striking royal blue color Caityln chose to incorporate! Giving us all kinds of Princess Di vibes!

Caitlyn and Patrick had their ceremony at St. Mary’s Chapel. When the doors open for the bride is one of our favorite moments of any wedding!

What a cute way to add a personalized touch! Caitlyn and Patrick added a neon sign by Glas Work behind the bar with their initials!

Wasn’t the head table absolutely breathtaking?! The stone fireplace that centers the Angus Barn Pavilion anchored the head table to make it a main showpiece of the reception!

Engagement Photos

Hello again! In honor of the holiday engagement season, we’d like to give some special love and attention to engagement photos. While not everyone chooses to do this, we highly recommend them, they are beneficial in so many ways! The stunning photos you get can be used around your house, for holiday cards, and many couples ultimately use them for save the dates!

Engagement photos also give you and your fiancé a chance to work with your wedding photographer before the big day! This is awesome because your photographer is someone who is going to be by your side all day long on your wedding day, and sometimes, they’re included in some pretty personal and intimate moments, so you want to feel comfortable and have a rapport with them!

Take a look at these stunning engagement photos of Trent and Thuy by the very talented Pam with Pamela Jahnke Photography! This gorgeous couple is getting married next year at The Carolina Inn. They offer some serious inspiration, so think again if you thought about skipping out on engagement photos! You’ll cherish them for a lifetime!

Tierney & Nick’s Wedding

Hello again! Happy almost fall! I don’t know about you, but we can not wait for the weather to start cooling down and settle into the full-on autumn spirit. Pumpkins and scarves and changing leaves are on the way, hooray! Fall asides, today we are so excited to showcase one of our most favorite weddings from this summer! Tierney and Nick’s July wedding was just too beautiful not to share. Their vision was a small guest count and a big party… and we love that! They were also the sweetest couple, with the cutest ‘how we met’ story! They met at a dog park and connected because they both had the same rare breed of dog! Adorable right?! And not to worry, the dogs did make and appearance at the wedding! Check out their wedding below!

Wasn’t she GORGEOUS! Her timeless lace dress and polished bun by The Junction Salon were a stunning combo!

Emily & John

This month we are sharing a wedding we did this March at the Carolina Inn. Our couple, Emily and John were a joy to work with and we loved their vision of a small, intimate wedding! From the gorgeous flowers by Wild Flora Farm, to the amazing cake, to dancing the night away with their innermost circle, we couldn’t have been more happy to be a part of their day! These amazing photos were captured by the lovely and talented Heba of Heba Salama Photography. Take a look for some serious wedding inspo!

These flowers are (almost) as gorgeous as our bride. The bright pinks and greenery are amazing for a spring wedding!

How beautiful is this floral arbor?! Such a modern take on the traditional arch!

The Carolina Inn is one of our favorite venues! Its beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces offer you so much variety. You’ll be able to get so many amazing shots!

The couple’s dog, Teddy, is super special to them, and was an adorable incorporation to their day. In addition to being in attendance, the couple also had a signature cocktail made in his honor!

Emily and John wanted to keep there guest count small, with about 50 guests attending. We love that because then your wedding day is filled with only those most close to you!

Big shout out to our amazing team of vendors that made this day unforgettable!

Mary Catherine & John

Hi again! We are back to post about one of our recent weddings at the Merrimon-Wynne House. This wedding was so special to be a part of, partly due to the amazing creativity of our bride, Mary Catherine. Lots of the details to this one were DIY, which is a great (and cost saving way) to make your day unique! The shabby-chic feel of the wedding made an eclectic yet elegant statement and gave Mary Catherine and her husband John a great vibe to show off their warmth as a couple! Take a look at the pictures below and you’ll see how Mary Catherine and John’s individual touches and style choices made their day truly stand out!

MCJohnWED419 MCJohnWED248

MCJohnWED017 Honeycombed shaped seating assignments! It’s a super easy way to incorporate something a little unexpected.

MCJohnWED040 These potted plants served as the wedding favors for guests! In this photo, you can see that the bottoms of the pots were painted gold. This was done individually, by hand, by the bride and gives the wedding favors a personal touch plus a little extra visual appeal!

The napkins were hand died by the bride herself! They are a beautiful pink ombre design. Two perks of doing DIY are that no one else will ever have these same napkins and they’re yours to keep at the end of the night because you’re not renting them from the caterer!

MCJohnWED045 (1)

These goblets and cups didn’t come from the caterer or rental company! Nope, the bride tracked these down herself! All the different jewel tones and shapes made the tables so much more interesting and no one will ever have the same glassware because Mary Catherine used a totally different avenue to find hers!

MCJohnWED051 (2)

This couple had a cake bar stocked with multiple different cake flavors! This is such a fun spin on a traditional cake table and allows for so much more variety. There were so many different flavors for guests to choose from, and this way, everyone gets a flavor they’ll love!

MCJohnWED055 (1)

Mary Catherine and John had a milk and cookie station! These cookies were baked by the couples’ family which was such a sweet touch (metaphorically and literally) that you won’t find at most weddings!

Carrie & Raymond

Today we are so excited to spotlight a beautiful wedding we did back in October at the Gregg Museum on NC State’s campus. Our couple is Carrie and Raymond and they were an absolute joy to work with! We love the way they incorporated tradition with modernity to create a truly unforgettable day. Below we have a few stunning images by the very talented Robin at Robin Lin Photography, that really showcase some of the special components to their day. Take some time to look through these shots for some wedding ideas that might inspire you to take a step away from the conventional!

RL2_3005 RL2_2656

We love these dark, rich, wine colored bridesmaids’ dresses! They make a dramatic statement and the hue is a classic pairing with the gorgeous autumn weather. Plus it look amazing on almost every skin tone so all your girls can feel beautiful!

Carrie and Raymond chose to do a first look! This is a fresh take on the groom’s first time seeing the bride! A first look is incredibly intimate and gives you and your groom an amazing moment together before walking down the aisle. Plus, you get so many more pictures done before the ceremony so you actually get to participate in cocktail hour!

RL2_0082 RL2_2959

RL2_0180These stunning market lights are an elegant but understated way to add lighting, which is essential when having a tented outdoor reception! Carrie and Raymond’s choice to use a transparent tent was gorgeous and allows the market lights to make a bigger and bigger statement as the night goes on and it gets darker!

RL2_0156 RL2_0502

Including an unexpected food in your day is a great way to make your wedding more personal! This couple chose to do a late night biscuit bar, courtesy of Rocky Top Catering! It was delicious and is a fun surprise for your guests! Almost anything will work so think creatively, i.e. s’mores bar, sundae station, or even having a food truck make a late night appearance.

Carrie and Raymond took a traditional idea, a send off, but put a little bit of a different twist on it! Those guests are waving glow sticks instead of something a little more conventional like sparklers, bubbles, or confetti. Making your day unique is all in the details, plus your guests can enjoy the glow sticks later on in the night if post-wedding festivities take you out on the town!

Big thanks to the amazing vendors we worked with on this wedding!

The wedding we have featured here this month was one of our Favorites. It took place in June in Oxford, NC at Mary Royall’s family home, the home where she grew up. The story is sweet, a little sad but the wedding was full of so much happiness, love and joy. We were honored to be a part of Mary Royall and Ryan’s special day. Ten Top Tips

Hi Friends-
I know its been awhile…. NO excuses just busy with life : ) Weddings + Family = Lots of fun and Loads of work : ) We have done this one before but not for awhile so here are the Top Ten Tips from Our Team who do over 60 weddings a year. We see a lot and these things just make life and weddings all around easier….. Trust us, we know : ) Enjoy!!

1. Guest Count – really think about this!! It makes or breaks the wedding. The budget, the venue and whole feel of the wedding really changes when you go from 100 to 200 guests. Take your time and do it right. Talk to your families, remember its their day too…..

2. Budget – Yep, we gotta talk about it. Its one of the first things you need to establish and yes, its going to be be more that you think. Big things come into play here…..Guest count, Type of bar you serve, Band or DJ, Transportation for all your Guests…. Just to name a few.

Margo Patrick Lo-630

3. Prioritize – This helps with the planning and the budget. What is the most important thing to you? The food, The band, The decor, The photographer…. Very few weddings can have it all : )

4. Wedding Website – Do this as soon as you start your planning. Its a fun way to share your story and get the information out to all your guests. From hotel information, transportation, gift registry and to favorite restaurants in your city. Let them know so they can make their plans early.

5. Engagement Photos – 2 Words – DO THEM! : ) They are so fun and make for some great photos. Get to know your photographer better. If nervous think about it as a Date, Go to your favorite Brewery, grab a beer and make it fun. Also, use them on your wedding website and your save the date cards and display at your wedding.

6. Your Vendor Team- These are your people who will be with you all day on the special day. So, take your time, look at websites, talk to friends, use your wedding planner. Make good choices, we say talk to 2-3 in each area, go to a couple tastings etc….. Enjoy the planning process and booking your key players.

7. Plan B – Rain – I know, again gotta talk about it. The weather is out of our control. If you are daring enough, and we love it to do an outdoor wedding we have to have a back plan. Whether its the rain or heat. The last thing you want on your wedding day is weather stress. A good plan B will save the day, we promise.

8. Getting Ready – When we usually arrive on the wedding day, hair and make up is in full swing. We love seeing this fun part of the day. All the girls getting ready, sipping champagne…… Think about this part of your day, who will be there, where is lunch coming from etc…… Its a really special time with your girls : )

9. Think About the Details – Simple things can really make a difference  like flip flops by the dance floor, a couple of cute umbrellas in case it does rains, a first look with your Dad, cute coozies at the bar, late night snack, so many things to make your day special…..

10. Hire a wedding planner – Obviously, right? : ) A great wedding planner will make your day, whether its Full Service or Day of, we do it all and highly recommend having someone by your side who does this everyday. Just this week I was called the MVP. Love it : )
